It’s been over 48 hours since my MOHS surgery to remove a basal cell lesion from my upper lip. Today I was able to change the dressing, which was a good thing, since the corner of my nose was itching uncontrollably and I was about to stick a pencil up it to reach the itch! Once again I prepped myself for major bruising and swelling. What I didn’t anticipate was how BIG my lip is! I keep saying it and I will say it again…I look like a collagen implant gone bad!
The pain is not as bad today, there is a lot of pressure on my sinuses which is giving me a pretty awful headache, but nothing I need to complain about! Itching is probably the worst part of it at this point… here is an updated pic with the bandages off so you can get an idea of how things are healing.
It’s hard to see in the picture but the whole left side of my face is quite swollen and sagging a bit. I know that I should be thankful and grateful and I hate to sound vain, but it was difficult to look at myself in the mirror. It makes me angry. I am angry that I have to go through this, I am angry that places like tanning salons are still legal, I was FURIOUS when I heard about the lady who was arrested for putting her 5 year old in a tanning bed… But in life sometimes it’s important to step back and see that through our trails and tribulations lie opportunites and blessings. This is one of those times, I have been overwhelmed with how many of you have reached out and shown your support through your kind words, helping with my kiddos, bringing dinner and fresh flowers and most importantly prayer. I plan on continuing this journey with you all.
Now in the meantime, all of this downtime has given me the chance to work on some of the marketing material for Leilani Mobile Tan. I hope to have a our website up soon and flyers and business cards made. I am currently trying to come up with a logo so if anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them!
And last, just a little something that made me laugh today…and seemed to fit the situation perfectly! 🙂
